What rumors have you heard about yourself since leaving?

good morning all,.

i have had the opportunity over the last couple of years to speak with a couple of jw's who had either attended the same congregation i did or were married to someone who to the same one.

for the record, i disassociated myself in 1992 due to being followed around by an elder or two who had heard that i had ray franz's "crisis of conscience" in my possession.

1. The reason why we left the last hall was because we were questioning the fds.

2. We're apostates and are reading apostate material.

3. We are marked but it's ok to say hi on the streets that we're not disassociated of df'd YET.

4. Others that are seen talking to us are questioned as to what we are talking about. I was seen talking to a brother outside a store in broad daylight and two elders approached the guys wife while he was at work telling her that we were seen together alone. She told them she didn't want to hear the gossip. Pretty disgusting if you ask me but we're the ones accused of being critical thinkers and negative.

a suburban jupiter couple is in the county jail today after they refused to give their 19-month-old boy the nutrients he needed, causing him to end up in a local hospital's intensive care unit.claudel and vanessa louis face charges of neglect of a child with great bodily harm.palm beach county sheriff's deputies were called to st. mary's medical center in west palm beach on june 5 to investigate the child neglect case.. the 19-month-old boy was admitted to the hospital may 24 after he had trouble breathing.the boy's doctor told the investigating deputy that the boy was severely malnourished, underdeveloped and was in respiratory distress, according to a sheriff's probable-cause affidavit.

The "friends" were too busy label licking the nucleus of the congregation (elders, ms, pioneers, ect) to take notice of this family.

In our last hall, no one knows till this day that there is a family of three young girls and their mother who are homeless. Finally a family took them in that ARE NOT jws. When they lost their home, it was the community that pulled together and helped them move. We did offer to help them but they were afraid of the gossip that would go around in the halls. ( I assure you, not from us)

Sometimes the not so popular families are forced into situations that might be beyond their control especially if there's mental illnesses. Then,if your constantly told your not doing enough and to focus on the ministry something or someone is bound to be neglected. How many on this site didn't have to focus on the org and give something up in the process?????? Possibly not realiseing you were neglecting or depriveing someone in the family of an education or some family fun or sports ect,,, Maybe taking a yearold child out in sevice all day in a sweltering 35 celcius car and he's balling most of the day and sleeping the rest with at least one throw-up due to heat exhaustion.

We just don't know what this couple was thinking but being in this religion, we have seen too much. Only god knows for sure and will make it right one day.

IS YOUR TEACHING UP-TO-DATE? - (WT Study Article for June 3-9, 2013)

in the watchtower study article for last week, june 3rd - 9th, 2013, the congregation was asked the question, "is your teaching up-to-date?".

there was a box on the top of page 9 that asked three questions allowing everyone to test themselves and find out if they had "up-to-date" and "accurate knowledge" in keeping with the "the ever-increasing light" as revealed through the pages of the watchtower magazine and related publications.

now at first blush this all sounds really good, but is it?

I smell a rat! If the householders can't see answers beyond 2000 then society is hoping that they will ask or phone into bethel what does the 1995 watchtower say. Then bethel will send someone out with the info. And BAM! The householder will not be able to get rid of them.

In other words, a new deceptive way to snare.

so over the last 5 - 7 months as some may know i have resigned as an elder and just came to a cold stop going to the meetings.

brothers call i wont answer the phone.

if they come by i just wont answer the door.

Anyone here tried the PALEO DIET?

Actually, you don't eat a whole lot of meat on it. You will eat at the most two servings per day of protein (the size of your palm) and the rest is tons of veggies along with some fruit, seeds, nuts and eggs. Some days you'll have the nuts and eggs and no meat. The meat should be grassfed but good luck trusting anyone unless you see the farm itself.

Go on facebook. Paleo Lifestyle and Diet. You'll see some of their recipes which are really good plus you can download their books for twenty-seven dollars.

The man that helped design this diet was the doctor who was also interviewed in the movie called King Corn. You can download the movie for free off the internet. Once you see that movie you'll understand why there's so many health problems and alot of it due to grain.

It's a really good lifestyle change but everything is made from fresh foods. You'll love it!

What problem did being a JW leave with your personality?

and i don't (necessarily) mean a religious or spiritual one.. for example, i think the traces of guilt and paranoia i often fight with come from being a born-in, but my biggest issue by far is not being able to live in the moment.. i have listened to the power of now audiobook (and eckhart tolle's voice put me to sleep) so i read it instead.

i have read other self-help books, most of them buddhist in leaning, but i still find it hard to stop thinking only in the future (thanks to the great trib, armageddon), or in the past (jesus, flood, 1914 being responsible for that).

and whilst i no longer believe the big a is looming, and barely give anything else a second thought, my behaviour has projected itself, and i still find it difficult just to 'be' in the moment, enjoying and savouring what i'm doing, and doing it to the best of my ability, i'm forever thinking what is coming up, and what i did badly last time.. my sister said the last time i visited her that she felt like she was waiting for something to happen "but not like armageddon, something else".

I don't want to go anywhere. Fear of running into a witless. Can't take anymore reminders of rejection when I run into a witless. Have that feeling anytime the elders are going to call to df us. I don't even check the phone to see who has called since noone has called us since we left. Can't trust and people only want you when they want something from you yet can't take a gift from someone for it makes me feel real bad. I am not the person I was before I joined up this religion.

Emotionally abused for sure. Now reading Steve Hassen book. I think I need more help than that. Honestly, it would feel better if I did get df'd. It wouldn't stop us from saying hi to whoever wanted to give us dirty looks for no reason. We could hang our heads high and get such satisfaction watching the witlesses make asses out of themselves as they run from us. Let them feel what they have made us feel like for the past year. Let them go and complain that we tried talking to them. Let the cobe call here and say don't do it again and what can happen?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Looooooooooong Prayers...

let's have a bit of a laugh.. .

who of you rolled your eyes when brother never ending prayers was called up to give the closing prayer?.

who of you then proceeded to tap your feet, fidget loudly or start doing balancing acts off the back of the chair in front of you while waiting for it to end?.

Yup! We have one who would go over the whole meeting in his prayer. Hubby decides to let one rip and I swear the noise was soooo loud that it bounced off the wall across to the other side of the building. People would start to laugh and the elder would end the prayer. Right after the amen we would look really dumbfounded and look at the poor kid behind us who was fast asleep and say to the parents "was that him"? He did that more than once

my jw friend of 20 years, the first one i ever met, the one who got me into jwism in the first place, unfriended me from facebook without explanation.

other jws who have unfriended me at least called me names (apostate) and told me they were unfriending me, but they were no loss.

but someone who's been your friend since you were 13...and no explanation...i'd think 20 years- 20 years!

One other thing that is helpful for me is I keep a recording device on me when I go out just in case you run into a witless. They think they are doing a service by trying to slip you up with something you've said and go back and report it to the elders. Even if it's not true. After the taping we put it onto our computer for future reference, if need be. You never know what accusations will come out of all this. Since then I have total confidence and am looking for these suckers to try and say something I never said. I go out not scared wondering who I will run into. Sisters run the other way but the brothers are extremely bold. When the elders approached the one couple about us, the sister put her hand up to his face and said she did not want to hear any gossip about us. We told the overseer at bethel that one and got our instructions to wait to see what these guys will do and then we do our next move. It's like we're playing chess using real people. Chin up and be proud of what and who you are. Remember who created who you are. It wasn't your friend or the religion. Believe in yourself!

That just happened to a friend of mine as well. Wait until the elders go behind your back telling your close friends that you were questioning the fds but it's ok to still say hello to you for your not df'd yet. That just happened to us last week. After we left the hall, two weeks later there's a talk on apostacy and after elders went around telling people who that talk was for. It's been a year since we haven't gone and the elders are starting to tighten the noose. Exciteing times ahead, Julia.

Tech49 on HOURS, TIME, and REPORTS

i thought i would share some of my observations on counting field service time, reports, etc.

and how those reports are viewed, to those that are still so fixated on numbers.. i served as secretary on the service committee for many years, and have seen it all!.

i was really disheartened when wt changed the requirement for aux pioneering to allow for 30 hrs, instead of the 50 it has been for so long.
